LCMHC, LCAS
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s in Family Studies, as well as her Master’s degree in Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University. She also completed a graduate certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling. Sarah is currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS). She gained additional post graduate training through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program as part of the first cohort of therapists in the state of North Carolina to be trained and rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). More recently, Sarah has also completed basic training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and has begun incorporating this into her practice.
Sarah currently works with children, adolescents, and adults to provide an environment that reduces stress, promotes change, and encourages the exploration of new alternatives. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, spending time with her family and fur babies, and finding "where the locals eat" in every town that she visits.
Therapy Dog
Athena (our therapy dog) began her journey in animal assisted therapy in August 2019. Her sensitive and intuitive nature brings just the right amount of calm to the therapy room, and sets even the most anxious hearts at ease. She works diligently to help you feel comfortable, and then withdraws to her bed for a quick nap when she senses she is no longer needed. She has a special gift of welcoming each person with excitement hour after hour, and often reluctantly goes home in the evenings – earning her the label as one of our most dedicated and loyal employees!
